Rick Perry’s Cooling Trend

Dylan Matthews finds a curious passage in Rick Perry’s book Fed Up:
Rank and file Democrats “know we have been experiencing a cooling trend, that the complexities of the global atmosphere have often eluded the most sophisticated scientists, and that draconian policies with dire economic effects based on so-called science may not stand the test of time,” he wrote in his book “Fed Up! The Fight to Save America From Washington” last year (page 92).
As Dylan notes, Perry clearly has no idea what he’s talking about:
This is incorrect on two counts. Politifact has reviewed similar statements and ruled both the claim that the Earth is cooling, and the claim that scientists differ on global warming, to be false.
Meanwhile, in Texas, Rick Perry’s cooling trend continues:

Update — Think Progress captured video of Perry discussing the drought on Monday, concluding that “we’ll be fine”:
It’s hard to see these crops. [INAUDIBLE] You know, I was telling the governor, if you’re in the farming business, you’re going to have good years, you’re going to have bad years. It’s just our bad year coming. We’ve had some awful good ones, back in — and we’ll be fine. As my dad says, it’ll rain. It always does.
